Choose the Portal which meets your needs and is within your computer system and Internet connection capabilities. No matter which Portal you use, all messaging and chat is fully integrated with users on other Portals. |

The Telnet PortalThis is the traditional way that City of Night has always been accessed. The VT-100/ANSI displayprovides a rich view into all non-VR facilities of the BBS. You can chat, post and read messages, play online games, even program the BBS! You must have an Internet connection that allows Telnet access to non-standard ports. The Web PortalThis is by far the easiest way to visit The City Of Night. Since you are already browsing the Internet,you probably have the system and connection capabilities to use this Portal. All you need is a Browser that handles Forms, and a connection that allows web access. You don't need Java, Javascript, or cookies. The Web Portal is ideal for those who are behind a restrictive firewall. On the down side, this Portal supports the fewest City Of Night facilities, and chatting is a bit awkward. The Virtual Reality PortalThis is the latest and most high-tech way to access the City of Night BBS! All chat rooms arepresented with rich computer-generated visuals, and users get to choose an Avatar, move around, and explore the BBS graphically. This Portal requires that you have at least a Pentium 233 with 128MB of RAM, and a non-lagging (though not necessarily super fast) Internet connection. You will also need to download the Virtual Reality Chat Software. It's all FREE, so check it out HERE! You cannot yet use the VR Portal to register a new Username for yourself.! |
